Ukraine Ukraine is a state in Eastern Europe. In the west it borders Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova, in the north - Belarus, in the north-east and east - Russia, and in the south it is washed by the Black Sea and the Azov Sea. The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv. Weather and climate conditions of Ukraine influence positively economic activity, tourism and recreational industries; they allow to use environmentally friendly energy of the wind and the sun. One of the natural resources of our country is its land, 2/3 of which is black earth. According to evaluations of specialists, a quarter of the world’s black earth is concentrated on the territory of Ukraine. Ukraine is a marine country. In the south it is washed by the Black Sea and the Azov Sea. The length of the coastline of the Black Sea in Ukraine is 1540 km. On the coast of the Black Sea there are many estuaries - Dniester, Dnieper, Bug and others. The Black Sea joins the Azov Sea, the Sea of Marmara and the Mediterranean Sea, and also it has access to the ocean. Southern position of the Black Sea and the Azov Sea, favorable climatic conditions, sandy beaches make the Black and the Azov Sea coast one of the major and most attractive resort and recreational places in Ukraine. Ukraine is a country with developed scientific and industrial base; it is a member of the World Trade Organization (since May 16, 2008). A number of sectors of the economy of Ukraine stand out due to the high level of technological development. Launch vehicles, satellites and equipment for space exploration are produced in Ukraine. Ukraine is a country with developed scientific and industrial base. The national economic complex includes such industries as heavy machinery, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, shipbuilding, production of buses, cars, lorries, tractors and other agricultural machinery, production of locomotives, machine tools, turbines, aviation engines and aircrafts, equipment for power stations, oil and chemical industry etc. Ukraine is a mighty producer of electricity.
The Constitution defines President of Ukraine as Head of State acting on its behalf. President is the guarantor of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, abidance of Constitution, rights and freedoms of a man and a citizen.
The only legislative body in Ukraine is Parliament - Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Deputies of Ukraine are elected by citizens of Ukraine on the basis of general, equal and direct voting right by means of the secret vote within the mixed (proportional and majority) system.
